Brothers Redevelopment’s Home Modification and Repair Department Director Jason McCullough has truly found his calling.
Since joining Brothers Redevelopment 17 years ago, McCullough has dedicated himself to ensuring that older adults in Colorado can age comfortably and safely in their homes for as long as possible. Under his leadership, the Home Modification and Repair Department expanded into Colorado Springs and has grown to become the largest program of its kind in the state.
Today, Brothers Redevelopment’s Home Modification and Repair Program generates over $2 million in revenue annually and completes more than 500 home repairs and modifications each year. McCullough has been instrumental in expanding the program’s reach to several counties across the Front Range, as well as areas like Firestone and Boulder.
“At a certain point, you feel a sense of responsibility for this work,” said McCullough. “You don’t see a lot of others doing it in the way we do. I can’t imagine doing something else right now, because what we are doing is so important, and it’s a needed resource, and we hear nothing but encouragement in the work we do.”
McCullough’s significant contributions to the home modification and repair field and his leadership in expanding Brothers Redevelopment’s Home Modification and Repair Program have earned him national recognition from The Coalition for Home Repair — the national coalition for home repair organizations in the United States. Last month, the coalition honored him with the Professional Excellence Award for his outstanding impact as a staff member of a home repair organization.
McCullough received the Professional Excellence Award at The Coalition for Home Repair’s ReFrame Conference in Detroit, where he also participated as a panelist on managing multiple CDBG programs and innovative bath modification strategies.
“The award was very flattering, and it validated the hard work that I’ve done, my team has done over the years, and our overall dedication to finding new ways to serve residents with housing needs in our communities,” said McCullough.
McCullough holds a deep knowledge of various private and public funded programs, including the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), CAPABLE, the American Rescue Plan Act, and local municipal grants. He also brings a collaborative approach to programs, serving on committees like the Wheat Ridge NORC and the Jefferson County Aging Well Housing Committee.
Outside of his work with Brothers Redevelopment McCullough finds joy in travel, camping, snowboarding, and surfing, often with his family by his side. As a working artist, he delights in painting across Colorado and the western states, showcasing his talents and passion for creativity.
“People like Jason McCullough are who take home repair programs to new heights,” said Freyja Harris, Coalition for Home Repair executive director. “Safe, healthy, affordable homes are fundamental to thriving communities. Jason is carrying that out with excellence deserving of recognition from his peers across the nation.”
