Housing nonprofit Brothers Redevelopment is encouraging Commerce City residents to apply for the City of Commerce City’s Advancing Commerce City Together (ACT) Program, an initiative designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and sustainability of homes through the community.
Through this partnership, Brothers Redevelopment and the City of Commerce City are aiming to address critical housing needs, promote energy efficiency, and support community revitalization. The ACT Program includes a robust suite of services offered by Brothers Redevelopment’s Home Modification and Repair and Paint-A-Thon Programs.
Key services offered include:
- Safety and Accessibility Enhancements: Wheelchair ramps, accessible bath remodels, door widening, grab bar installations, and handrails.
- Energy Efficiency and Climate Resiliency: Heat pump and HVAC services, solar panel installations, attic sealing and insulation, window replacements, and electrification upgrades such as panel replacements.
- Home Repairs: Water heater and furnace replacements, electrical repairs, and general stabilization for long-term habitation.
- Code Compliance Support:
- Exterior house painting (EPA compliance ensured)
- Yard cleanup and landscaping
- Hazardous tree trimming or removal
- Fence repairs or replacement
- Removal of inoperable vehicles
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED): Outdoor lighting upgrades, improved sightlines, and secure entry points to enhance safety and deter crime.
Residents qualify for this program by meeting income guidelines, with household income at or below 100% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Last year, Brothers Redevelopment’s programs made a significant impact in Commerce City. The Paint-A-Thon Program provided free exterior painting and yard cleanup services to 8 households, improving homes and fostering a sense of community care.
Meanwhile in 2024, the Home Modification and Repair Program served 18 households in Commerce City. These efforts enhanced safety, accessibility, and quality of life, enabling residents to live comfortably and independently in their homes.
