Brothers Redevelopment wants to make sure every eligible Denver resident gets the property tax relief they deserve.
Applications are now open for the City and County of Denver’s Property Tax Relief Program, a resource that provides financial assistance to older adults, people with disabilities, and families. We’re honored to help administer the program’s funds and make sure relief gets into the hands of the people who need it most.
The Property Tax Relief Program offers partial refunds on property taxes or rent paid in 2024, helping eligible Denver residents offset high housing costs. Last year, this program provided an average refund of $1,000 to more than $3,000 residents.
Applications are available through April 30, 2026 at denvergov.org/propertytaxrelief. For questions or assistance with applying, contact Colorado Housing Connects at 1-844-926-6632 or submit an online inquiry at coloradohousingconnects.org/contact/.
“We know many older adults, people with disabilities, and families are struggling to keep up with rising housing costs,” said Patrick Noonan, Program Director of Colorado Housing Connects. “This program can be a real financial lifeline, and we’re here to make sure every eligible resident knows about it and gets help applying if they need it.”
To qualify for the Property Tax Relief Program, applicants must be Denver residents and meet both income and residency requirements. Homeowners are eligible if they owned and lived in their home within Denver for all of 2024, paid their 2024 property taxes in full, and had an income at or below 60% of the area median income. In addition, they must have been 65 or older, lived with a disability, or had a dependent child living with them for the entire year.
Renters may also qualify if they lived in a Denver rental property where 2024 property taxes were paid, paid rent at all the places they lived throughout 2024, and had an income at or below 25% of the area median income (for individuals) or 30% of the area median income (for two adult applicants in the same household). Renters must also have been either 65 or older or living with a disability for the full year in 2024.
To help residents who may need extra support with the application, the City and County of Denver plans to host in-person assistance events across the city in partnership with community organizations. Dates and locations for these events will be announced soon. Be sure to follow Colorado Housing Connects on Facebook to stay updated on upcoming events and other helpful resources.
