Brothers Redevelopment has been awarded a competitive 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) from the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) to support a new 60-unit supportive housing development in Arapahoe County.
Located at 1900 S. Chambers Road in Aurora, the development will be the first of its kind in the county to offer housing and services for residents facing housing instability, including those involved in the county’s justice system. In partnership with Arapahoe County and a network of justice and health agencies, the project will serve individuals with extremely low incomes (at or below 30% of the Area Median Income) who are experiencing homelessness, behavioral health challenges, or other complex barriers to housing.
“Securing the LIHTC award was crucial to making the county’s vision a reality,” said Brothers Redevelopment President Jeff Martinez. “This is yet another new model for Brothers, and we’re looking forward to continuing this journey with our partners to benefit those in need.”
Targeted to open in 2027, the community is expected to serve as a model for addressing the intersection of homelessness, behavioral health, and justice system involvement.
Brothers Redevelopment will work alongside trusted nonprofit agencies — including AllHealth Network, STRIDE Community Health Center, Aurora Mental Health & Recovery —and several county departments to offer on-site services such as employment assistance, behavioral health counseling, and resource navigation.
In addition to LIHTC funding, the project has received strong financial support from the public, private and philanthropic sectors. Additional supporters include the Colorado Division of Housing, US Bank and philanthropic sources.
Brothers Redevelopment has a long history of serving residents in Aurora and throughout Arapahoe County. The organization previously partnered with the City of Aurora to develop the Paris Family Apartments, a 39-unit affordable housing community at 1702 Paris St.
Additionally, Brothers Redevelopment’s property management division oversees more than 200 affordable units for income-qualified families in Aurora. In recent years, the organization has also provided home modifications and essential repairs for dozens of income-qualified homeowners and now offers housing navigation services to residents in the city’s Original Northwest neighborhoods.
Brothers Redevelopment looks forward to sharing more updates as this important project moves forward.
