Brothers Redevelopment concluded an impactful 2024 with a significant recognition: the Neighborhood Builders® Award from Bank of America. This prestigious honor, presented in December, comes with a $200,000 grant to support the organization’s mission of providing affordable housing and essential community development services.

The award was presented at Bank of America’s Celebration of Community Partnerships event on Dec. 5. The event celebrated the achievements of Brothers Redevelopment while highlighting its ongoing commitment to strengthening communities. Jeff Martinez, President of Brothers Redevelopment, was joined by representatives from Bank of America and Dick Magnus, a founding member of the organization, who shared reflections on Brothers Redevelopment’s journey since its inception in 1971. Community representatives from areas where Brothers Redevelopment is actively building and restoring neighborhoods also attended the celebration.

“Receiving the Neighborhood Builders Award from Bank of America highlights the incredible impact that Brothers Redevelopment has on our community and across Colorado,” said Jeff Martinez. “This grant helps celebrate the mission of our founders to ensure safe, affordable housing for everyone.”

Since its creation in 2004, the Neighborhood Builders® program has invested more than $300 million into nearly 100 communities across the United States, collaborating with more than 1,600 nonprofit organizations. The program provides leadership development training for executive directors and emerging leaders, focusing on financial sustainability, human capital management, and strategic storytelling. Additionally, it connects participants to a national network of peer organizations, further enhancing their capacity for lasting community impact.

This award is a fitting capstone to a year of milestones for Brothers Redevelopment. In 2024, the organization:

• Reached 1 million volunteer hours through its renowned Paint-A-Thon Program, which provides free exterior home painting for older adults and residents with disabilities to help them maintain their homes and independence.
• Celebrated the 10th anniversary of Colorado Housing Connects (1-844-926-6632), a housing helpline that has provided guidance and resources to countless residents.
• Launched new, ambitious projects to create more housing units than ever before, demonstrating the power of its public and private partnerships.
The Neighborhood Builders® Award underscores the transformative work that Brothers Redevelopment continues to achieve in its mission to ensure safe and affordable housing for all.

“As we look ahead, this award provides us with the momentum and resources to deepen our impact and expand our reach,” said Martinez. “We are grateful for partners like Bank of America who believe in our mission and enable us to continue building a stronger, more equitable future for Colorado communities.”
